How to measure clothes for Vinted
Buyers can't try anything on. With three measurements in centimetres you get fewer questions, less doubt and faster sales. Here's how to measure properly, plus a ready-made text for your listing.
Lay it flat, close it up and take three measurements
Measure pit to pit (armpit to armpit), the length from the highest point of the shoulder to the hem, and for sweaters and jackets the sleeve length. Always in centimetres, with the garment flat on a table. Put them at the top of your description so buyers see right away whether it fits.
The label doesn't tell the whole story
One brand's M is another brand's L. American brands often run larger than European ones, and a piece that has been washed many times can be a few centimetres smaller. Buyers on Vinted know this too, which is why "What are the measurements?" is one of the most common questions in your inbox.
Every question costs time. And while you reply, the buyer may already be checking out a piece from someone who listed the measurements. Three numbers in your description remove that doubt before it starts.
A size on the label tells you about the brand. Centimetres tell you about the garment.Tap a point, see where to measure
You always need pit to pit and length. Shoulders and sleeves add extra certainty for shirts, sweaters and jackets.
1. Pit to pit
Measure straight across the front, from one armpit seam to the other, just below the sleeves. It's the most important measurement.
Tip: x2 gives the chest of the garment. So never measure all the way round.2. Length
From the highest point of the shoulder, next to the collar, straight down to the bottom of the hem.
Tip: on a hoodie, don't include the hood.3. Shoulders
From shoulder seam to shoulder seam, straight across the top. Especially useful for shirts, polos and jackets.
Tip: no shoulder seam, like on raglan sleeves? Just skip this one.4. Sleeve length
From the shoulder seam along the sleeve to the end of the cuff. Important for sweaters and jackets.
Tip: lay the sleeve flat along the body, not pulled out at an angle.Enter your measurements, get your listing text
Pick the type, slide the measurements and see roughly what size the piece is. Your text fills itself in.
Garment chest: ± 108 cm
A guide for men's and unisex tops. Brands differ, and American brands often run larger. Not sure? Lay a piece that fits you well next to it and compare.
Three numbers, three wins
Adding measurements takes a minute per piece. Here's what you get back.

The questions resellers ask most.
What does pit to pit mean?+
Pit to pit is the width of a garment from armpit to armpit, measured flat across the front. Doubled, it's roughly the chest of the garment. It's the most important measurement for tops.
Should I measure in centimetres or inches?+
For buyers in the EU, measure in centimetres. If you also sell to UK buyers, you can add inches after it (1 inch = 2.54 cm).
How do I measure a hoodie or jacket?+
Close the zip or buttons, lay it flat and measure pit to pit. Measure the length from the highest point of the shoulder, without the hood. For jackets, the sleeve length matters even more.
What size is 55 cm pit to pit?+
For a T-shirt or sweater, 55 cm pit to pit is usually an L. It's a guide: brands differ and American brands often run larger. That's why you should always add the centimetres.
Should I add a photo of the tape measure?+
You don't have to, but it helps. One photo with the tape across pit to pit shows you measure honestly and gives buyers confidence.
What if the label says a different size than my measurement?+
Put both in your description: the size on the label and how it fits based on your measurement. For example "Label: M, fits like L". That way buyers know exactly what they're getting.
