Buying vintage in bulk in Europe?
5 tips for winter
Winter is the season with the highest price per piece of the year. These five checks turn your bulk order into stock that sells, not a gamble that sits.
Buy in bulk what you'll sell this winter.
Bulk only pays off when you know what's inside. Check five things first: the season, the brands, the condition, the delivery time and the free shipping threshold. Hoodies, sweatshirts, fleece and winter jackets are the categories peaking right now.
Winter is when bulk makes you the most, or costs you the most
In winter, prices per piece are the highest of the year. A good hoodie or winter jacket brings in more than three t-shirts, and demand peaks from October through January. Buy in bulk now and you're ready when the rush starts.
Buy in October and you're online before the first cold week, selling at top prices. Wait, and you're competing with everyone at once. Check in 30 seconds whether you're ready for bulk.
But bulk is also where most resellers lose money. A kilo bag full of unknown brands, a week waiting for your delivery, or a ‘Grade A’ that turns out to have stains when you unpack it: in winter, each of those costs you exactly the weeks you should have been selling.
These five tips make your winter bulk work. Combine them with our Black Friday plan and you'll also know exactly when to order.
Rule of thumb: buy in October what you'll sell through January. Anything that arrives later misses part of the peak.Winter, category by category
Sweatshirts and t-shirts always sell. This indication, based on our seasonal calendar, shows when each category moves fastest.
How to buy vintage in bulk for winter
Five checks before you order. Each one saves you money or time, and in winter it's both.
Put the focus on winter
Hoodies and sweatshirts always sell, and fastest from October through January. Together with fleece and winter jackets, they carry the highest price per piece of the year. Put the focus of your bulk there now, and keep t-shirts and polos running alongside: those sell all year round.
Buy branded stock from top brands
On Vinted people search by brand name. Brand names are what buyers search for, so that's where your turnover is. Choose bulk from top brands: a mix of Nike, Adidas, Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger, or 100% one brand if you're building your shop around one name. See which brands move fastest in our brand guide.
Ask what ‘Grade A’ really means
Grade A should be clean and wearable, with no holes or stains. Watch out for suppliers who apply an error margin for wear: 20% means 2 out of 10 pieces are allowed to have flaws.
Factor in the delivery time
In winter, every week counts. A delivery time of 3 to 7 working days is a week you're not listing, right when demand is at its highest. Ask up front when your order leaves the warehouse.
Check the free shipping threshold
Free shipping only from €500 makes a first test order expensive straight away. A low box price with high shipping costs isn't a low price. Look at the threshold first, and only then compare prices.

Questions about buying vintage in bulk
What resellers ask us most about buying in bulk.
What does buying vintage in bulk mean?+
Buying vintage clothing in larger quantities at once, by the kilo, by the bale or in boxes with a fixed number of pieces. The advantage is a lower price per piece. The risk is that with kilo buying you don't know which brands or condition you'll get.
What sells best in winter?+
Hoodies, sweatshirts, fleece and winter jackets. Demand peaks from October through January, with the highest prices per piece of the year. Sweatshirts, t-shirts and polos also sell all year round.
Is vintage by the kilo cheaper than a box?+
By the kilo you often pay less, but you pay by weight and don't know in advance what's inside. In winter, heavy pieces add up fast. A box has a fixed price per piece and is ready to list straight away.
When should I buy stock for winter?+
As early as possible in October. Delivery, photographing and listing realistically take two to three weeks together. Buy in November and you miss part of the peak.
