Selling on Vinted at Christmas:
the gift season
In December your buyer isn't shopping for themselves, they're shopping for someone else. Tune your listings, shipping and stock to that, and you win the busiest month of the year.
Black Friday
Christmas
In December, sell to the gift buyer.
Plan backwards from 25 December. Put brand, item and size in your title, ship within 1–2 days, build bundles that work as a gift, and have your stock listed before Black Friday (27 November), when gift shopping starts.
In December, your buyer isn't the wearer
For most of the year, people on Vinted buy for themselves. December changes that. Parents, partners and friends are looking for a gift: a Nike hoodie for a son, a Tommy Hilfiger sweater for a dad, a Ralph Lauren polo for a friend.
They're unsure about the size, send you a question and send the same question to three other sellers. Whoever replies fastest and clearest makes the sale. Check in 30 seconds whether you're ready for December.
That buyer doesn't always know the size, is in a hurry and wants to be sure it arrives in time. That's where you win or lose the sale. Not on price, but on clarity and speed.
And second-hand gifting is no longer a taboo. In recommerce research by Vinted and Retail Economics, 54% said they're comfortable giving second-hand clothing as a gift, and 62% are keen to receive second-hand branded items. Branded vintage is exactly what gift buyers are looking for.
Rule of thumb: in December you're selling certainty. The right size, the condition in the photos and a parcel that arrives on time.Source: Vinted & Retail Economics, Recommerce Report 2024 (UK), via FashionUnited.
Your December plan, week by week
Gift buyers shop before the holiday, not on it. This plan shows when to buy stock, list and sell. An indication, based on the fixed dates of Black Friday and Christmas.
How to sell on Vinted in the gift season
Five changes you can make in one evening. Each one removes a reason for a gift buyer to walk away.
Plan back from 25 December
A gift has to arrive before the day. Gift shopping starts around Black Friday (27 November) and Christmas buyers keep going until about a week before Christmas. Whatever is still unsold after that usually waits until January. Make sure your stock is listed before Black Friday.
Write your title for the giver
A gift buyer searches by brand and item: ‘Nike hoodie’, ‘Tommy Hilfiger sweater’. Put brand, item, size and colour in your title and add measurements in centimetres (pit to pit and length) to your description. That way no one has to guess. More tips in our listing guide.
Build bundles that work as a gift
A hoodie with a matching T-shirt, or two sweaters from the same brand: a set feels like a complete gift. Turn on bundle discounts in your Vinted settings so buyers combine more pieces from you. Read how in Vinted bundles.
Ship within 1–2 days
In December every buyer is watching the clock. Fast shipping is your strongest selling point, so say it in your description and do it. Keep an eye on your carrier's last posting dates before Christmas too.
Buy stock now, not in December
Delivery, photos and listing easily take two weeks combined. If you're still buying in December, you miss the peak. That's why we ship within 24 hours. Order in November and you're live before the gift buyers start. See also our Black Friday planning.
4 mistakes that cost you December
Tap a card and see what works with gift buyers, and what makes them walk away.
A vague title
↻ Tap to flip✓ Do this: ‘Vintage Nike hoodie grey – size L’. Brand, item, colour and size.
✗ Don't: ‘Nice vintage jumper’. A gift buyer searches by brand and won't find you.
No measurements in cm
↻ Tap to flip✓ Do this: pit to pit and length in your description, so the giver can compare with a sweater at home.
✗ Don't: just ‘fits true to size’. Doubt about the size is the number one reason people drop out.
Slow replies
↻ Tap to flip✓ Do this: reply within the hour and confirm size and condition.
✗ Don't: only answering in the evening. By then the buyer has bought the gift elsewhere.
Buying stock too late
↻ Tap to flip✓ Do this: stock in and listed in November.
✗ Don't: still ordering in December. You'll be live when the gift buyers are already done.
With us: shipped within 24 hours.
A regular listing vs a gift-ready listing
Same piece, different listing. Switch between the two and see what makes the difference in December.

A gift-ready listing takes a few extra minutes, but removes every doubt: the brand, the size, the condition and the delivery time. Exactly what the giver needs to buy now.
